Jim Cotterill could retire to a Florida beach or a golf course lake.
Instead he is tackling one of the city’s hardest challenges — race relations.
He and his wife Nancy already have served; they helped launch and run the Indianapolis Business Journal. Cotterill also launched and built the Indiana chapter of the National Christian Foundation, helping put about $200 million into philanthropy.

But a bike accident that would have put most people in a wheelchair recharged Cotterill. He and his wife decided to turn that tribulation into an advocacy campaign for the disabled.

Unite Indy is the name of their new venture. They have headquarters in a small rehabbed building at 241 W. 38th Street near Crown Hill Cemetery.
